The antagonist does not necessarily have to be always a human or in itself good or bad. It may also represent some psychological or mystical element. In the typical style of the stories in which a hero must face a villain, both can be defined as protagonists or antagonists of the other, respectively. However, on some occasions the creators of stories have created various complex situations, as for example, to tell the story from the point of view of the villain, it is called antagonistic protagonist or anti-hero. But in general, the hero is the main character, and who or who oppose him are antagonists or anti heroes.The antagonist would become the character, group of characters, and sometimes even the cosmic, or natural forces opposed to the main protagonist of history, or in general, to the heroes and sympathetic characters of history.
